My Favourite Resources: MINIMALISM
BLOG

"Joshua Fields Millburn & Ryan Nicodemus help over 20 million people live meaningful lives with less through their website, books, podcast, and documentary. The Minimalists have been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Boston Globe, Forbes, TIME, ABC, CBS, NBC, BBC, CBC, and NPR."
As their name says the Minimalists are the best stop for knowledge of minimalism. I personally have read one of their books, watched the film and listened to about the first 50 podcast episodes. I love them - they send a very clear message about life and what minimalism actually is - not a certain count of items but their true value. Josh's true passion is writing and their blog is filled with inspiring words.

"Since adopting the Zero Waste lifestyle in 2008, my life and that of my family have changed for the better. We not only feel happier, but we also lead more meaningful lives based on experiences instead of stuff. My family’s trash for 2017 This blog and my bestselling book, Zero Waste Home have launched a global movement, inspiring thousands of people throughout the world to live simply and take a stance against needless waste. In them, I propose a simple guideline, my 5R’s: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rot (and only in that order). Are you ready to join in?"
Bea is (in my opinion) the leader of the Zero Waste Movement and one of the main points of her family's journey to zero waste is minimising. In her 5 Rs guideline she has reduce as the second step of the path to being truly zero waste and she proves that by having a super minimal (for some even extreme) wardrobe, kitchen and house in general. I believe reading her book was one of the first things to inspire me to consider minimalism and is definitely one of the main pillars of my resource library.
DOCUMENTARIES

"This is a story about clothing. It’s about the clothes we wear, the people who make them, and the impact the industry is having on our world. The price of clothing has been decreasing for decades, while the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically. The True Cost is a groundbreaking documentary film that pulls back the curtain on the untold story and asks us to consider, who really pays the price for our clothing?"
I loved this documentary. It is absolutely eye opening to the fashion industry and makes you think even if like me you're not that into fashion. I know there are quite controversial views on the subject of poorly paid workers and whether that is an actual problem but I believe this film helped me truly understand the issue and completely change the way I shop and think about clothes.

This is a documentary by the Minimalists (read above) and it's probably the easiest way to grasp their message. It is absolutely worth having a look on one of those nights when you can't decide on what to watch - this should be your choice.
BOOKS

"The best-selling author and acclaimed tidying consultant, Marie Kondo, is dedicated to organizing the world and sparking joy in people’s lives. The KonMari Method™ is a way of life and a state of mind that encourages cherishing the things that spark joy in people’s lives."
I am obsessed with the KonMari Method. Now, Marie Kondo doesn't exactly talk about minimalism (I am writing a blog soon about it). However, her approach at only owning "what sparks joy" and de-cluttering the rest eventually leaves you to minimalism. Her method has changed the way I organise and tidy my home and helps me keep it the way I like and it really does spark joy in me.
You can read my blog post here.

The Minimalists: The Books
And again with the Minimalists (read above). These are their three books which summarise their minimalism journey. I have only read "Everything That Remains" which describes the absolute start of their new lives. Being absolutely honest - if you have watched the documentary, their TED talk and listen to a couple podcast episode, this book doesn't give you much new information. However the writing is really nice and easy to read so it's a very good bed-time read.
YouTube CHANNELLS

"Hallelujah for high vibrational and life-giving plant foods! Going vegan over 10 years ago has helped heal my ailments which used to hold me back in life, including acne, poor digestion and an eating disorder of anorexia. I’ve had two amazing vegan pregnancies with lots of raw foods and together my husband and I raise our healthy children on a vegan lifestyle. I say lifestyle because it is more than just a diet. We are vegan not only for our health, but also for the animals and the planet! It is all encompassing: promoting LOVE, loving all beings, and seeing the good in all people and animals. Which is why I am so passionate about sharing healthy vegan recipes found in my recipe ebooks!"
I am so in love with the Fisher's. I want to be them one day with maybe a few more cooked meals. The family is absolutely inspirational using veganism not just for their health but also to raise loving and passionate children. Her lifestyle videos are also gorgeous and absolutely addictive. As a happy Hawaiian family they are quite minimalist with their possessions but are still fabulous.

Kay is honestly one of my favourite YouTubers right now. I really enjoy her positive and radiant style. Whatever her videos are they relax me, make me smile and do give me a slightly different view of the topics that I am exploring so much. She's absolutely worth subscribing to and she also has a really cute jewerly business on Etsy. Check it out!

Madeleine Olivia creates videos with vegan recipes, minimalism inspiration and natural body care.
I started watching Maddie about a year ago when her videos were primarily based on minimalism and de-cluttering. She has plenty of minimalism videos and what I love about it is that she keeps de-cluttering the same areas again and again. It's not just me that reorganises a kitchen cupboard 5 times in 6 months.

"I'm Rachel! A wife, momma, ad agency boss lady, innkeeper, and creator of MessyMinimalist.com. These are my adventures!"
Rachel's videos are so satisfying - cluttered space to organised one in each video. She is very honest and real and shows things absolutely as they are. I personally don't learn a lot from her but my OCD is happy.

"Hey, I'm MuchelleB. I'm into self-discovery, minimalism, learning new things, nice people and salted caramel anything. This channel is for anyone that's on a self growth journey to live a more intentional life."
These are absolutely relaxing and beautiful videos and I love how short and to the point they are. Other than her intentional living videos MuchelleB has a 30 day decluttering challenge which she also wrote an ebook about. I am just so happy when I watch them and those cluttered to tidy spaces are again so satisfying.

"Hi, and welcome to my channel! I'm Sarah! I'm a young mum who lives in New Zealand. On my channel, you will see videos about compassionate living, me and my families vegan lifestyle, travel, recipes, vlogs, tips and tricks and hopefully more!"
Sarah, like Ellen, is an inpiration for an amazing family. She has great videos about intentional living and minimalism that just inspire me to do better. I just want to be part of their family.
