DOCUMENTARIES

"Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret is a groundbreaking environmental documentary following intrepid filmmaker Kip Andersen as he uncovers the most destructive industry facing the planet today – and investigates why the world’s leading environmental organizations are too afraid to talk about it."
I loved "Cowspiracy". Nic and I watched it in the first week of me being vegan and Nic became vegan then and there. It is really easy to follow and to understand. Some statistics focus on the USA but it is a global film nevertheless. It is definitely in my top 5 recommendation for vegan education.

"The feature film Forks Over Knives examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting animal-based and processed foods."
"Fork Over Knives" examines the second one of three pillars of veganism - health. It is a little bit hard to follow (What the Health wasn't out yet), but it gives amazing information about the way food influences our bodies.
(According to me the three pillars are - environmental sustainability, personal health and animal welfare).

"What the Health is the ground-breaking follow-up film from the creators of the award-winning documentary Cowspiracy. The film exposes the collusion and corruption in government and big business that is costing us trillions of healthcare dollars, and keeping us sick."
"What the Health" is definitely a must! For me the importance of this documentary is the focus on the corruption and the reason why our standard diet is so heaviliy supported although it keeps the population sick. Quite eye opening.

"EARTHLINGS is a 2005 American documentary film about humankind's total dependence on animals for economic purposes. Presented in five chapters (pets, food, clothing, entertainment and scientific research) the film is narrated by Joaquin Phoenix, featuring music by Moby, and was written, produced and directed by Shaun Monson."
Now, I haven't actually seen Earthling because I don't think I have the heart or stomach to. Even half of the trailer makes me sick. I am still recommending it for anyone who wants to understand animal welfare in the animal agriculture industry. Good luck!

"Vegan: Everyday Stories explores the lives of four remarkably different people who share a common thread - they're all vegan. The movie traces the personal journeys of an ultramarathon runner who has overcome addiction to compete in one hundred mile races, a cattle rancher's wife who creates the first cattle ranch turned farmed animal sanctuary in Texas, a food truck owner cooking up knee-buckling plant-based foods, and an 8-year-old girl who convinces her family of six to go vegan."
This is an amazing, positive, light documentary which shows the benefits of veganism. Unlike the others it doesn't go into too many statistics and doesn't have any heart breaking moments. It is just simple and great! (And feeds my dream to live on an animal sanctuary.)
BOOKS

"In How Not to Die, Dr. Michael Greger examines the fifteen top causes of death in America—heart disease, various cancers, diabetes, Parkinson’s, high blood pressure, and more—and explains how nutritional and lifestyle interventions can sometimes trump prescription pills and other pharmaceutical and surgical approaches, freeing us to live healthier lives."
Reading "How Not to Die" makes you feel a bit like a medical student, although according to him they don't actually teach proper nutrition at medical school. It is so interesting to understand how food makes our body function well or not. It changed the way I think about diseases. He also recommends a "daily dozen" - 12 groups of fruits, vegetable, nuts, etc. that can lead our body to operate at its best. I don't follow them religiously but make sure to do my best.
YouTube CHANNELLS

"Mic the Vegan is a vegan science writer that covers a variety of topics from the health effects of a vegan diet and the environmental impact of eating animal products to the sociological phenomenon of casual animal exploitation. Based in the U.S., he regularly tackles debunking the myths that perpetuate harmful dietary and lifestyle behaviors - all with a drop of humor that only he thinks is funny."
Mic is one of my main sources of information when it comes to veganism and creating my arguments for any critic that might come my way. His research is always based on scientific data which allows me to trust him. In my opinion he creates very strong arguments for the topics he chooses and are very understandable to anyone. If you had to follow one vegan YouTuber, I'd say he's your way to go!

Vet Ranch is a channel that follows veterinarians in Texas. Their work is focused on abandonded pets and all medical expenses are covered through donations.
Vet Ranch is not a vegan channel at all. It is simply sick cats and dogs and charming vets. However, watching their videos shows me how much animals go through because of humans and how a little TLC can turn their life around. This has me even more convinced that pets should ALWAYS be adopted and not bought from a mill. Check them out, they are so cute!
YouTube VEGAN RECIPES
Truth be told, I don't actually try the recipes I watch or if I do it is very very rare. But I love watching them as it gives me inspiration and teaches me techniques for when I cook. Plus they're always so pretty!

BOSH!
"We make delicious and fun food. Not dull. Not bland. From show-stoppers to one-pot wonders and crazy cocktails. All fun. All tasty. Our dishes are easy to cook and easy to follow. Our simple style makes cooking a breeze no matter what your level. Easy cook. Impressive results! We like to think of ourselves as food remixers. And everything we do is 100% plant-based and vegan. No animal products. All plants."
I follow bosh on Instagram. They have those type of easy food videos (like Tasty) but it's all vegan. They also have a book with their recipes for those that like it analogue. They are really creative and also share a lot from behind the scenes on their Instagram Story.

"Caitlin is a content creator who is passionate about food, veganism, and a healthy lifestyle - and showing others how easy it can be."
Caitlin has really nice recipe videos most of which quite easy and straight forward. She usually make 3-5 recipes in a video that have an ingredient in common which is great for variety and ideas.

"Enjoy mouthwatering vegan recipes that taste great and are great for you! All of my recipes are 100% plant based and do not use any animal products... because "Life Begins At Vegan"!"
Anya does recipe videos that are more focused on the "difficult" things like vegan cheese or meat substitutes but makes it seem so easy. Her videos are short and to the point which I love and when I have the tools I am definitely trying out her ideas.

"Hallelujah for high vibrational and life-giving plant foods! Going vegan over 10 years ago has helped heal my ailments which used to hold me back in life, including acne, poor digestion and an eating disorder of anorexia. I’ve had two amazing vegan pregnancies with lots of raw foods and together my husband and I raise our healthy children on a vegan lifestyle. I say lifestyle because it is more than just a diet. We are vegan not only for our health, but also for the animals and the planet! It is all encompassing: promoting LOVE, loving all beings, and seeing the good in all people and animals. Which is why I am so passionate about sharing healthy vegan recipes found in my recipe ebooks!"
I am so in love with the Fisher's. I want to be them one day with maybe a little bit more cooked meals. The family is absolutely inspirational using veganism not just for their health but also to raise loving and passionate children. Her lifestyle videos are also gorgeous and absolutely addictive.

"I have lost over 70 pounds following a whole foods plant based diet and I have shared that entire journey here on my YouTube channel. My main focus is helping people achieve their best health through both mind and body. I focus on eating whole foods, mainly potatoes, rice, beans, and other starches in their least processed state. I make recipe videos, what I eat videos, and talk about the many other aspects of living a healthy life including positive thoughts, self love, the law of attraction, healthy relationships, motivating yourself, living minimally and doing the best for not only our selves but the environment, animals and people on this planet as well."
Hannah is the reason I know consider myself an expert at vegan sushi and also one of the main people to influence my veganism. Up until recently her focus was only on weight loss through whole food plant based diet and now she's starting to develop further into lifestyle and day-to-day videos. All her recipes are easy and delicious and cooked in tiny kitchen in a tiny house. (Am I obsessed with tiny houses? Yes, yes I am!)

"Thanks for stopping by! Welcome to my channel. Here you will find vegan recipes that are quick to make and use simple ingredients. My aim is to show people how easy and accessible the vegan lifestyle is. I hope you enjoy and find some new favourite recipes while you are here!"
Liv's videos are beautiful and easy. A lot of them are for comfort foods, healthy take out alternatives and she has definitely inspired a lot of my kitchen action. Although her latest life-style videos have been great, I hope she doesn't move far away from vegan recipes.

Madeleine Olivia creates videos with vegan recipes, minimalism inspiration and natural body care.
I started watching Maddie about a year ago when her videos were primarily based on minimalism and decluttering. She is one of the first YouTubers to plant the vegan bug inside me. Now she is almost exclusively focusing on recipe videos and they are all super easy and cheap. Have you tried hummus as a pasta sauce? If not, you're loosing a lot! It is my go-to lazy and delicious recipe right now. Also she is the only UK based vegan I follow.

"Hey :) I'm Nicole, but my friends call me Nikki and I make vegan recipe and lifestyle videos. I love sharing easy, healthy vegan recipes, quick tips, and What I Ate Today videos to help give people healthy eating inspiration and also spread the word that being vegan can mean eating delicious, easy to prepare, affordable food without harming animals or the environment."
Nikki, as most other people I follow, has videos for quick, easy and delicious vegan recipes. What she also does is give a very brief list of the benefits of the ingredients in her recipes. That is really good for beginner vegans and those who know little about nutrition.

"Welcome to the PUL channel! Welcome foodies, minimalists, travellers and all beautiful souls. Get inspired or find a calm and relaxing space with the collection of videos that help to nourish the cells and the soul."
Sadia is a professional nutritionist and, hands down, one of the most soulful people on YouTube. We all know that what's on social media isn't reality but she makes me believe that everyone can be this positive and radiant. Her videos are education and absolutely beautiful and I get excited every time I see a new video. She is one of the best people to lead a beginner into successful veganism.

"Hi, and welcome to my channel! I'm Sarah! I'm a young mum who lives in New Zealand. On my channel, you will see videos about compassionate living, me and my families vegan lifestyle, travel, recipes, vlogs, tips and tricks and hopefully more!"
Sarah, like Ellen, is an inspiration for an amazing family. She has great raw and cooked recipes on her channel but also creates stunning vlogs. I just want to be part of their family.

"Welcome to my vegan kitchen! I'm passionate about showing people how to live a healthy, balanced, plant-based lifestyle. I love trying weird vegan foods and recipes and creating recipes that help fuel my active lifestyle."
Sarah is a very positive and inspiring YouTuber with a focus on fitness and vegan food. Her healthy recipes are amazing, but what is even better is that she has those cheat recipes as well - all about the balance. I love how open she is to experimenting. She also does a lot of tast testing on American vegan products, which is helpful for when they come to the UK.
